Open Castles – Individual Tours of the Friulan Castles

“Castelli Aperti” (Open Castles), organized by the Consortium to Safeguard Historical Castles of Friuli Venezia Giulia, was created to improve access to the historical legacy of castle sites and other fortified works in the region. Private castles were situated overlooking inlets or nestled in verdant hills, submerged in large parks, or immersed in town centers where they were the most prestigious residences. There are two “Castelli Aperti” dates this year, in spring and autumn, when you can now visit these private castles not normally open to the public. This initiative is for the individual who wishes to visit some of the most beautiful castles of the region, and discover the secrets behind their important front doors: magnificent gardens, and halls rich in art, history, and memorabilia of other ages. On the antique stairways of thesefascinating castles you will be personally welcomed by knowledgeableowners or expert tour guides. Go back in time with them and discover the impressive historical heritage open to you during these special visits.

Enjoy wine tastings of our own production; the Emotions Workshop by G. De Martin; an artisanal artifacts exhibit by the province of Udine; and a tasting of select meats, cheeses and other Friulan delicacies from the Boutique della Frutta.
